PWD exam center
The Study of Foreign Languages at the Wroclaw University of Economics has been cooperating with the Goethe Institute and the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) since 1994. Then, for the first time, a course was organized for students to prepare for the Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International (PWD) exam, with 27 participants. All passed this exam successfully, receiving high marks.
Since the group of examinees was large, the exam committee from Warsaw conducted the exam on-site in Wroclaw, which was a complete exception for this exam. Thanks to the initiative of Ms. Dorothea Levy-Hillerich of the Goethe Institute in Warsaw and the favor of the then German consul in Wroclaw, the PWD certificate ceremony was held at the German Consulate in Wroclaw.
This success has encouraged both lecturers to organize more courses and students to attend. They are still very popular among students not only of our university. Those already working also attend these courses.
The tradition of presenting certificates at the Consulate is also still cherished today.
Regularly organized preparatory courses, their large number and the successful passing of exams by their participants resulted in our being granted a license in 2003 to conduct the Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International exam by the organizers of the exam (Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, Carl Duisberg Centren, Goethe-Institut) in agreement with the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
